Angel L. De Leon Jr. is a rural banking and microfinance veteran with more than 25 years of experience in the Philippines and other countries. Currently, he is the Chairman of Taytay Sa Kauswagan, Inc., a leading microfinance institution in the Philippines focused on serving the poor in the Visayas region of the Philippines. Mr. De Leon also led the establishment of major initiatives for the Philippine microfinance sector, such as The Microfinance Data Sharing System (MiDAS), the first initiative in the country to share information about microfinance borrowers. Mr. De Leon has been involved in public service for more than two decades, serving in various capacities including as the Chairman of Alliance of Philippine Partners in Enterprise Development (APPEND).
Currently elected as OK Remit’s Chairman of the Board, Mark Daniels has been with Opportunity International since 1998 and is currently serving as Philippine Country Director. Mark is responsible for managing activities in the Philippines, mobilizing technical, corporate and private donor resource allocations. This includes overseeing project monitoring and evaluation activities. Mark has also undertaken consulting work for some large multinationals, integrating microfinance into their community development programs. Mark is a CPA and was previously employed with Coopers & Lybrand in their Business Recovery and Insolvency Services Division.
Angelo B. Solarte is the Executive Director of Taytay Sa Kauswagan, Inc. (TSKI). Mr. Solarte has over 20 years of proven microfinance experience in operations and organizational development. He has been with TSKI for more than a decade helping the organization through various stages of transformation. Through his proven leadership skills, Mr. Solarte was able to guide TSKI from the startup stage to a large, social development focused institution with over 100 branches spread across the country. Mr. Solarte takes a keen interest in organizational development by overseeing the development of policies that positively impact performance, productivity and growth. His other areas of interest include micro-small to medium enterprises (MSMEs), agribusiness loans, calamity & emergency loans, and technology enabled financial services.
Mr. Rolando B. Victoria is the Founding Executive Director of ASKI. He is one of the founding Board Members of the Microfinance Council of the Philippines (MCPI), Alliance of Philippine Partners in Enterprise Development (APPEND), RIMANSI Organization for Asia and the Pacific, Inc., Social Initiative Against Catastrophe, Inc. and Pinoy AKO Insurance. Mr. Victoria is an Independent Director of Inter-Asia Development Bank (IADB).
Martin has extensive professional management experience spanning over two decades across several industries, most particularly in the field of remittances, telecommunications, power systems, logistics, consumer products, agricultural raw materials and industrial machinery. Most recently, Martin was the Chief Operating Officer of one of the direct agents of Western Union in the Philippines. Prior to that, Martin was associated with LBC, one of the country’s key players in the remittance and cargo industry as the President for Asia-Pacific operations. Before LBC, Martin had a long period of association with Lucent Technologies (Alcatel-Lucent) in different positions and lastly as the Director for Services Sales in Asia-Pacific region. Martin has also worked with DHL Express Inc. and played a pivotal role in establishing its presence in the Philippines. Martin has management degrees from both the British Columbia Institute of Technology in Burnaby, Canada and from Ohlone College in Fremont, California, USA. He is fluent in English, Spanish and Tagalog.
Jojie, as she is called by her colleagues, is a seasoned professional with over two decades of proven experience in remittance and consumer credit operations. Jojie started her career in Villarica Pawnshop, Inc.(VPI) one of the leading retail credit companies in the Philippines. She remained with VPI for over 18 years and rose through the ranks to become the Head of Marketing and Operations for the company’s remittance operations for 4 years. Before joining OK Remit, she was the Vice President for Operations of one of the larger direct agents of Western Union in the Philippines with over 600 remittance outlets nationwide. Her twenty five years of exposure to pawnshop and remittance industry inspires her to broaden her horizon to serve the poor and the underserved by joining OK Remit. Jojie acquired her Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering as a government scholar at the Bulacan State University and the University of the East. In addition, she successfully completed courses in Micro Finance Operations and Project Management from the University of the Philippines- ITDC.
Mike is a passionate marketer and foodie at heart, with over 15 years of experience in the marketing and business development in various industries. He started his career as one of the pioneer batch of trainees for one of the popular international coffee chains in the country and worked his way up in various organizations in various fields to his current role as AVP for business development and compliance. He spent the first eight years of his professional experience in the country’s leading food and beverage and hospitality companies and the past ten years were honed in financial institutions and remittance industries. Mike initially studied and trained in pre-med but eventually found his passion in marketing. He is also an e-gaming competitor in the digital world.
Rico is a hands-on IT and Customer Service professional. Having honed his professional skills by actually immersing himself in field operations for over 6 years, Rico started his career with one of Western Union Philippines’ direct agents as an IT Assistant and Systems Administrator. He rose through the ranks and last held the position of Customer Service Manager for the company’s nationwide operations. He is proficient in systems and customer service handling, troubleshooting and motivating and training staff. Rico holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Baguio.
